Hello, I'm Mel! I can't wait to get to know you, but for now, here's a little bit about me.
First and foremost, I am married to my best friend and together we created two of the coolest little people, Jack and Maggie. At least one time a day I look at them & think about how lucky I am. I am grateful for my little family & love how happy it makes me to be a part of it. I think in order to realize & capture the beauty of others, it's important to first appreciate my own life & then sprinkle that into my work.
Born a true Piscean, I have always been an artist by nature. In addition to photography, I paint, I draw & i write. But I also have quite an analytical side. This side of me lended itself to the six years I spent studying business and the eleven plus years I spent working in the corporate world. I ended up with a Bachelors degree in Business Marketing, an MBA, several years of experience in various corporate positions, & irreplaceable experiences and relationships. Making the decision to leave the corporate world was incredibly difficult, but I am comforted by the satisfaction I get from running my own business.
From a young age I had always envisioned running my own business. So it was only natural that it be a combination of the two things I love more than anything, working with people and being creative. I started Serendipity Photography in early 2009, shortly after my son was born. He made quite the grand entrance 5 weeks early & enjoyed his first helicopter ride on his birthday. The day he was born changed me forever. During that pivotal time when I was at one hospital and my son at another, the images my husband brought to me were all I had. I realized at that time just how strong my passion for photography had grown. Besides my love for the movie starring John Cusack & Kate Beckisdale, that's why I chose the name Serendipity. I instantly related with its meaning: the irony of finding something good while not specifically searching for it. Jack's birth leading me back to photography was Serendipity at it's finest. I'm a firm believer in 'everything happens for a reason' AND I HOPE YOUR REASON BRINGS US TOGETHER SOON!
And...if you are still DYING to know more about me, here are some FUN FACTS :)
